TONY UTLEY, a native of Terre Haute, Indiana, has been growing in prominence since his first exhibition in 1971 at the Black Fine Art Festival (Indiana State University).  Utley participated in other exhibitions winning numerous awards. He completed a B.S. degree in Commercial Art and Art Education grades K-12.

While an art instructor at John Marshall High, Utley conducted art classes at the Indianapolis Art League, and held demonstration seminars for the Plainfield Indiana Art League and the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

In 1978 Utley received his Masters of Fine Art degree from Indiana State University and went on to win the Best Show Award at the Indiana Black Expo.  He received the merit award from the Art Education Association of Indiana soon after.  Also in 1978 Utley presented his first one man exhibition at Indiana State University in Terre Haute.  In 2004 his latest one man exhibit was in Chicago, Illinois at Northwestern University.

Utley’s work reflects his dedication to capturing the mood, light, depth, and spirit of his time.  In 1985, Utley was commissioned to create “Cover Art” for the Indianapolis Colts and in 1986 he created cover art for USAC (United States Auto Club) sports media Guide books.

He is listed in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers 2002. Also, he has artworks featured on websites.
